The city of Levanto has an interesting historic center, many beautiful painted villas, a lively Wednesday market, good restaurants and shops. In the main square, Piazza della Loggia, there is a delightful 13th-century loggia. Levanto boasts a particularly mild climate. The long sandy beach is ideal for all seaside activities. It is a great base for surfers, who come from all over Europe. Also on the beach, there is a swimming pool and a scuba diving center. In the summer there are many concerts and live music events. Every year the “Laura Film Festival” takes place, and it is possible to participate in numerous tasting marathons. The area also boasts an excellent culinary tradition, thanks to the Cinque Terre wines and local fish recipes. Levanto is an excellent starting point for visiting the villages of the Cinque Terre, either by train, by sea or by trying excursions. Genoa, Pisa, Lucca and Florence can be easily visited in a day, by train or car. Levanto is close to the airports of Genoa (60 km.) and Pisa (70 km.).
